Your Gift, Their Journey - Support Scholarships for Cultural Exchange in Japan

This season, YPSO is embarking on a 9-day, 3-concert summer tour of Japan.   We have a unique opportunity to perform there, do a local cultural exchange program, and visit major cultural sites in Kyoto, Hiroshima, the Instrument Museum in Hamamatsu, & Tokyo.

Join us in reaching new heights!  We're over 50% of the way there!

  • $50 - Journey Starter:
    • Move us 50 Miles Closer to Japan
  • $100 - Expedition Enthusiast:
    • Advance us 100 Miles Along the Path
  • $200 - Globe Trotter:
    • Propel our Symphony 200 Miles Closer

Our goal is to raise $50,000. Today, thanks to supporters like you, we are over halfway there! Can you help us make it our destination?

With your help, you will be making a profound impact for a young musician. Every student will have a place in the orchestra and on tour. Together, our students will flourish musically and mature culturally, gaining an invaluable world experience.

Why we are asking for your help:

Many of our young students and their families lack the financial support to cover the cost of participation.

We are fundraising to

  • support cultural exchange initiatives in our educational program to foster the growth of our musicians as global citizens
  • offset the financial burdens of participation on tour for our young musicians through scholarships

Every contribution, big or small, brings us closer to the cultural exchange experience of a lifetime

Thank you for being the key to our musical journey!

ABOUT YPSO:

Young People's Symphony Orchestra (YPSO), is an independent youth orchestra based in Berkeley, CA, founded in 1936 by Jessica Marcelli, a pioneering woman who was bold enough to create a space for young musicians to hone their craft, and make a profession for herself during a time when it was rare to see a woman conductor.

Our program is 87 years strong, currently under the leadership of Maestro David Ramadanoff, and today, supports approx. 100 young musicians every year who play instruments ranging from violins to vibraphones!

For 87 years, YPSO has helped "ENCOURAGE YOUNG PEOPLE TO BECOME EXEMPLARY MUSICIANS, AND YOUNG MUSICIANS TO BECOME EXEMPLARY PEOPLE."
